We announced the exciting news about the ScaleUp America contract award in September of 2015. By January 2016 we had our first class of very-impressive business owners up and running.
During those 3 interim months, the folks at the Chamber had to hire the project manager, coordinate with partners, get the word out, set up internal processes, set up an application, evaluate applications, announce the first group, and get them onboarded. Whew! No small task!
Despite the rush, we brought 18 amazing businesses on board. I guess they were on their toes in looking for opportunities. And we actually had many more wonderful, qualified, highly-scalable businesses interested. I hope they can join us in the upcoming iterations of the program.
Until then, we get to brag on our current businesses. Like AJ Media Services, which makes low-cost, high-quality intro videos for small businesses and non-profits, among other services. And The Dailey Method gym on Ellington, a beautiful class-based gym that has great classes and excellent facilities (I actually told the owner about ScaleUp after my first class there because I was so impressed!).
I could go on and on about each and every business. But I encourage you to check them out yourself. Take a look at the list of businesses in cohort 1, or check in for stories, lessons, and inside tips from our Scalers on the UpScale blog!
